Discovery of a Ukrainian Baroque Treasure – Ensemble Musikia at Stockholm Early Music Festival - June 4, 2023
From neighbouring Ukraine where Russia’s war is going on before our eyes, Stockholm Early Music Festival invited the Ensemble Musikia consisting of young singers under the leadership of singer, conductor and researcher Ihor Kolomiiets. The ensemble performed works from previously unknown manuscripts found in archives in Kyiv, representative of the Ukrainian sacred baroque music tradition with strong characteristics of Western as well as Eastern European traditions.
In the afternoon of June 4, Kolomiiets held a seminar in the Stockholm Cathedral parish hall about his discovery of and research into this previously unknown Ukrainian baroque treasure illustrating it by sounding live performances.
