In the concert at the Finnish church in Stockholm Old town, the ensemble of eight Ukrainian singers performed some of these treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries, including music by Davydovych and several pieces by anonymous composers. The evening included a polytonal episode describing the battle in heaven and after the fighting between the angels and the devil, the latter disappears from the score symbolising God’s victory. The concert took place in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden H.E. Andrii Plakhotniuk.

Ensemble Musikia: Iryna Synovets, soprano Olha Zasadna, soprano Tetiana Yashvili, alto Mariia Skuratovska, alto Vilen Kilchenko, tenor Serhii Nesteruk, tenor and conductor Ihor Kolomiiets, bass Oleksandr Dmytriiev. Ihor Kolomiiets founded Ensemble Musikia as a student in Kyiv in 2018. He currently resides in Graz in Austria.
The Ukraine Culture Network UCN supported the participation of Ensemble Musikia at Stockholm Early Music Festival 2023 – with special thanks to Board Members Maria Söderberg and Christian Schoenenberger. In addition, Maria Söderberg, also president of the Torsten Söderberg Foundation, through her contacts, supported scanning, digitisation and safeguarding of this unique baroque collection in the archives in Kyiv.
