The Ukrainian Institute in Sweden

The Ukrainian Institute in Sweden, founded in 2014, has as its primary mission to promote awareness of Ukrainian culture within the broader context of European cultural heritage, as well as to encourage cultural exchanges between Ukraine and Sweden. This mission has become even more important nowadays.

Advocacy is a key element of our work. We believe that mutual knowledge and cultural cooperation are the central elements of our society's resistance to future threats. We are dedicated to influencing societal thinking through culture and popular education.

The Institute is unique in that we reach far beyond the confines of a traditional cultural organization. We were the first Ukraine-centric organization to become an associate member of the European Union National Institute of Culture (EUNIC) Stockholm cluster in 2014, and within this network we have become an integral part of the European cultural scene.

Over the years, we have organized concerts, concert series (Young Talents - Ukraine, for young talents from Ukraine), the music festival Rethinking Europe, poetry evenings, events with Swedish and international authors, the Nordic Ukrainian Film Festival, etc. With our partners in the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), we regularly participate in film festivals (e.g. REX Animation Festival, European Film Festival, Sounds of Silence), and other events such as concerts, panel debates, European Language Day, etc.
